Camping

Troop 399 is a very active camping troop.  On average, Troop 399 schedules seven to eight outings during the school/scouting year.  Types of camping range from tent camping, cabin trips, backpacking hikes, canoeing expeditions, service outings, district "camp-o-rees", merit badge trips and cold-weather camping.

A basic Troop 399 camping trip entails:
- The cooking and cleaning of two breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner - varies by patrol depending on amount attending
- A morning of skill instruction and/or merit badge class with counselor or adult leader
- Exploration and use of camp facilities (ex: hikes, fishing, sport games, nearby attractions)
- Skill-based patrol competition (ex: cook-offs, camp-gadget building, games)
- Unity campfire for the entire troop
- Small religious service in the morning

Summer Camp - YAWGOOG SCOUT RESERVATION

Traditionally, Troop 399 spends one week during the summer Yawgoog Scout Reservation in Rockville Rhode Island. In operation for over 85 years, Yawgoog offers a wide-range of scouting and camping activities including aquatics, shooting sports, boating, campcraft skills, physical challenge, and exploration of nature.  Regarded as one of the nation's best scout camps, the program offerings at Yawgoog never disappoint.
