On Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010, Troop 399 advanced its 35th and most recent scout to the rank of Eagle.  Kevin O'Brien, a senior at North Babylon High School passed his Board of Review on Wednesday night, becoming the latest to receive the most prestigious honor in Scouting.  Kevin, who joined scouts and Troop 399 in Winter 2005, completed his Eagle Scout project for the Town of Babylon this past January.  Now 18 years old, Kevin has aged out of the scouting program but still remains active in troop meetings and activities.  The O'Brien family is currently in the process of planning Kevin's Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for the coming Spring.  Congratulations to Kevin and his family on this outstanding achievement.

PART 1 OF EAGLE PROJECT COMPLETE, PART 2 SATURDAY
LOTS OF HELP NEEDED, AS DAN LOOKS TO COMPLETE EAGLE PROJECT
On Saturday afternoon, the Rohan family and Troop 399 held carried out the first phase of Dan Rohan's Eagle Scout project.  Fifteen scouts and ten adults went around neighborhoods in North Babylon east of Rt. 231, advertising a food drive collection that Dan has organized with parish, Our Lady of Lourdes in West Islip.  Flyers were distributed to over 900 homes over the course of the morning and early afternoon.  Working well as teams, Troop 399, under Dan's direction are in the process of carrying out yet another successful Eagle Project. However, this was only the first part.  This coming Saturday, March 13th, Dan needs the assistance of his fellow scouts and adults to help collect, sort and distribute the donated goods.  Meeting time will be 9:00 am at 152 Kime Avenue in North Babylon.  All help is needed and appreciated - lunch will be provided.  Please call Dan for more information.  Further details will be presented at the March 11th troop meeting!  You can also reach Dan at rohand901@yahoo.com

399 HITS THE CITY FOR WINTER CAMPING TRIP
Snow, mud aside, 399 enjoys first  NYC camping trip in almost 30 years.
This past weekend, February 26-28, 2010, 16 scouts and 7 adults took part in Troop 399's winter camping trip to Pouch Camp, NYC's only scouting reservation, in Staten Island.  Scouts got to take in all the cold weather, enjoying games and fun in the snow during the day.  The afternoon continued their afternoon with a trip to Fort Wadsworth, an excursion that paid tribute to the old defense of the Hudson River and Manhattan Harbor.  Preparing excellent meals throughout the weekend, ten scouts worked on advancement, earning the Cooking merit badge.  Although there was plenty of snow and mud, Troop 399 turned the weekend into a successful one.  All the scouts and leaders enjoyed the unique experience of camping in the city and learned a lot about cooking and history on the way.  CLICK HERE FOR PHOTO ALBUM.
