LARGE TURNOUT HELPS DAN COMPLETE PROJECT |
| OVER 100 BAGS OF FOOD DONATED TO O.L.L.'S PARISH FOOD PANTRY | |
| This past Sunday afternoon, St. John the Baptist High School senior and Eagle Scout candidate Daniel Rohan successfully completed the final phase of his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project. Not even the rainy, less than favorable weather conditions could stop almost thirty scouts and troop leaders from helping support Dan on his trail to Eagle. Having placed advertisements around the eastern side of North Babylon last weekend, Troop 399 members returned to their places of work en route to collecting over one hundred bags of assorted non-perishable food items. Back at the Rohan household, more volutneers sorted through the hundreds of canned and boxed goods culminating in the stocking of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Outreach's food pantry during the afternoon. Congratulations to Troop 399, Dan and his family on a tremendous effort. Click here for pictures from Sunday! |

399 HITS THE CITY FOR WINTER CAMPING TRIP |
| Snow, mud aside, 399 enjoys first NYC camping trip in almost 30 years. | |
| This past weekend, February 26-28, 2010, 16 scouts and 7 adults took part in Troop 399's winter camping trip to Pouch Camp, NYC's only scouting reservation, in Staten Island. Scouts got to take in all the cold weather, enjoying games and fun in the snow during the day. The afternoon continued their afternoon with a trip to Fort Wadsworth, an excursion that paid tribute to the old defense of the Hudson River and Manhattan Harbor. Preparing excellent meals throughout the weekend, ten scouts worked on advancement, earning the Cooking merit badge. Although there was plenty of snow and mud, Troop 399 turned the weekend into a successful one. All the scouts and leaders enjoyed the unique experience of camping in the city and learned a lot about cooking and history on the way. CLICK HERE FOR PHOTO ALBUM. |

troop399nbny.org was developed and is maintained for a variety of reasons including:
- Keeping our Scouts and Scouting families informed. The Internet provides the fastest way to communicate schedule changes, and late breaking news.
- Sharing our adventures with family, friends and the Scouting community.
- Letting our community and the world know about our Troop, its activities and objectives.
- Scouting offers something for our community's youth and gives back to the community through service projects. Most people aren't aware of this and we hope to add yet another way of communicating this through the Internet. And hey, we may even get lucky and recruit some new Scouts to our Troop!
